About Williams Street Fish Market

Located at 302 William St, East Orange, NJ 07017, Williams Street Fish Market operates as a seafood market serving East Orange in New Jersey. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.

Store size varies enormously, from a small corner grocery with a few aisles to a full supermarket chain location in East Orange with a bakery, seafood counter and food court under one roof. Sales and promotions are often posted in-store or in a weekly flyer rather than online, so prices listed on a website may be out of date. Seafood markets sell live and on-ice product and can usually clean or prepare fish on request for a small fee. Specialty food stores in New Jersey may focus narrowly on one category, like a butcher, a rice and dry goods shop, or an import store, so calling ahead to confirm stock for a specific item saves a wasted trip.

The business lists hours on 5 days of the week. Typical hours are 10 am–7 pm. It is closed on Monday, Sunday. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. The listed phone number is (973) 678-0965. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone.

On Google it holds a rating of 4.3 out of 5 from 192 reviews, which is a strong result for a seafood market in East Orange and suggests consistent service.

Their porgy is very good. Their whiting is also very good but, they ran out so I had some porgy. I hadn't had it in years. It was delicious. Seasoned to perfection and huge.

The fry whiting fish was not seasoned well, the fish were not cleaned properly. They left the scales and tail on the fish. It was a complete turn off when I opened my container, seeing it ruined my appetite. I dumped most of the fish in the garbage. I will not be returning there ever again!

The phrase β€œdon’t judge a book by its cover” had to be invented for this spot! This unassuming hole-in-the-wall fish joint is a straight-up hidden gem in New Jersey. If you know, you know. And if you don’t β€” you’re missing out. Planning to make a splash at your next gathering? Order a whole pan to go and watch it disappear. That’s all I’m saying. Only heads-up: they don’t filet the fish. It’s whole whiting and porgies only β€” so no fish sandwiches. But if you appreciate real-deal, fresh fish, that won’t even matter.

The fish is fresh, seasoned, hot, so good. I didn't like there are no signs to make new customers aware they only take cash. The lady must've been having a bad day. She was rude, it was my first time so I'm asking questions. One she realized I was new she could've said we only take cash. After waiting 37 minutes which is fine. Go to pay with card she says only cash in a nasty way. Which made me annoyed they're are no signs that say cash only. How are you upset with me. My husband said okay I'll walk to the store to use atm. The lady was so ready to give our trays to the next person being that it's only 2 options there. Which made me not want it anymore but my husband was beyond hungry after the wait. Get the cash from the store, go to pay i ask for hot sauce & tarter sauce. She says no tarter sauce hands me the bag. How do you have fried fish my tarter with an attitude. I get in the car to check the bag she didn't even put the hot sauce in the bag. It's 2026 there's no need to be rude to people especially since it's hard time. We work hard for our money. No need to give attitude, if I was a nasty person I could've went off on her. But I'm not, just treat people with kindness. It's
